In the Spring of 1989 the keel for the SUNDOWN was laid from a 12' X 12' X 47' piece of heart Fir.  After a year and a half of construction the hull was completed in 1990.

She is constructed of inch & 5/8" Juniper wood and fiberglass with biaxial cloth and West System Epoxy on the bottom, and inch &1/2 Juniper wood , fiberglass with biaxial cloth and West System Epoxy.  The interior of the hull is coated with three coats of West System Epoxy, and painted with Epoxy paint.  This combination of Juniper and fiberglass composite makes for a very stable and rugged hull.
